Local Tree Initiatives

Rooted in Newark

Rooted in Newark initiates a new concentrated focus on tree planting as part of Newark’s long-term commitment to urban greening, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience.

Renaissance Trees Program

Each winter and summer, the NJ Tree Foundation accepts applications for free street trees to be planted in the spring and fall. We work with the tree recipients to organize the events and plant the trees. All tree recipients must sign a Resident Tree Agreement committing to maintain the trees for a minimum of two years in order to receive a free tree. For more information check out the FAQ’s below and be sure to fill out the application for the program in your region.

Tree Concerns for the City

SeeClickFix allows residents to request tree maintenance, express tree concerns, request a tree on your street, and other City-related Complaints/ Requests.
